Giveaway Monday: Gap Creek

Giveaway Mondays continue with our first paperback giveaway, and oh, what a paperback it is!

Gap Creek

by Robert Morgan

In 2000, Oprah Winfrey selected Gap Creek for her Book Club., Now, a dozen years and more than a million copies later, we are proud to offer our first paperback edition of this enduring bestseller.

Julie and Hank Harmon’s new life in the valley, in the last years of the nineteenth century, is more complicated than the couple ever imagined. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what to fear most—the fires and floods or the flesh-and-blood grifters, drunks, and busybodies who insinuate themselves into their new life.

To survive, they must find out whether love can keep chaos and madness at bay. Their struggles with nature, with work, with the changing century, and with the disappointments and triumphs of their union make Gap Creek a timeless story of a marriage.

His stripped-down and almost primitive sentences burn with the raw lonesome pathos of Hank Williams’ best songs.” - The New York Times Book Review

I read this Web site every day and checked for Giveaway Monday every single hour all day yesterday (Monday; I never saw Giveaway Monday. I would definitely have entered this contest if this had been posted. What time did you post it? I sit at a computer 9 hours a day. I can’t sit at a computer in the evening. I’m handicapped and have arthritis in every part of my body. That would be too much. So I missed this great opportunity.

What the heck: I’ll enter, anyhow. I want this book, too.
